Hi Reader,
What’s new with you? Not much is going on here — slow news week. 😉
Along with feeling gratitude for those who provide us with safe and fair elections, my heart goes out to all writers in weeks like this one. It is National Novel Writing Month (#NaNoWriMo), after all, and it’s not easy writing when every minute seemingly brings world-altering news.
It was easier to focus back in the good old days when all we had to worry about were what the Kardashians were up to. (Turns out, not much.)
But write we must, because in the future, when the seas make coastal property out of West Virginia and the U.S. has disintegrated into feudal states run by, you guessed it, members of the Kardashian family, people will want to read your story. And they’ll want to read my story. And your neighbor’s.
The future won’t see us by our differences. Instead, tomorrow’s humans will view us as people who collectively lived through an experience. And our writing is how we’ll share our perspective of that experience with those who come after us.
So write on, dear reader, no matter what alert the news might bring. Unless, of course, it has something to do with the Kardashians.
Stay safe, and thanks for reading,
Nick
