Happy Friday,
Black Americans deserve the right to life as much as anyone else in this country. That’s why I support the peaceful protests that are happening across the country.
Every night this week in DC we’ve listened to sirens and helicopters. On Monday night, federal authorities fired tear gas and flashbangs to disperse a crowd of peaceful protestors outside the White House. What a disgrace.
I’m just a farm boy from Missouri. But it seems to me that if we lose our freedom to peacefully protest our government, then we’ve lost the foundation on which this country exists.
We writers and book lovers should be particularly concerned. Today it’s peacefully kneeling in a park. Tomorrow it could be something you’re writing or reading that incurs the fury of those in power.
Thanks for reading,
Nick
